- Bodysuits - 3 to 4 per day for easy changes
- Sleepsuits - 2 per day to have a spare in case of accidents
- Outer layers - Tops, jumpers, coats and bottoms- great for days out and about.
- Accessories - Hats, gloves and shoes are perfect when preparing for colder days
- Blankets & sleeping bags - Sleeping bags are great for safe sleeping, & blankets perfect for extra layers when out the house.
Tu tip - avoid over-buying in one size as newborn babies grow quickly; instead, buy clothes in different sizes to be prepared for growth spurts.

What should my baby wear in colder weather?
As we get into colder weather, layering is great for babies, as clothes can be added and removed as temperatures change throughout the day. Cooler weather also calls for cute autumnal designs and cosy fabrics.
The baby layering guide
Autumn weather can often be unpredictable, with colder mornings and evenings and warmer daytime, so layering is often the easiest way to dress your baby comfortably during the day. Lightweight layers can be added or removed, as temperatures can change throughout the day.
Layering guide -
- Start with a base layer like a long or short-sleeve vest.
- Next is a middle layer, like a sleepsuit or an outfit set.
- Add extra warmth on chilly days like a cardigan or jumper.
- An outer layer can then be added like coats, pramsuits or blankets, great when leaving the house.
- Accessories like hats, gloves, socks, and booties can be added where needed.
Tu tip : Multipacks can be useful for plenty of spares, and everyday changes.

What to buy for a first baby in the UK?
Whatever the time of year is that you have your baby, you will always need vests, sleepsuits, muslins, hats and blankets as essential new baby items. In the winter months pramsuits, jackets and warm hats are a must. In the warmer months you may want to put baby in rompers to sleep rather than sleepsuits. Other essential items are sleeping bags – again depending on time of year refer to the tog rating and room temperature.
Are 3 month baby clothes 0-3 or 3-6?
This really depends on the size or weight of your baby rather than age. Our 0-3m range will fit up to a 14lb baby, so if your baby weighs more than this at 3 months then they would need to move into size 3-6m.
What should a baby wear for the first time swimming?
If in a pool out of the sun any swimsuit or swimming trunk will do. If in the sun it is recommended to wear full covering swimsuits with sleeves for full coverage and a swim hat, also known as a keppie. It is recommended that babies wear swim nappies wherever they swim, some of our range has integrated swim nappies within the swimsuit.
What is the best gift for a newborn baby?
It’s always worth asking the parents what they need. Clothing wise they will always needs sleepsuits but cute outfits are also always appreciated, think about sizing too as new parents often receive a lot of new baby size clothing but nothing for when the baby is 3m+. Something for new mum is also very appreciated like new PJs, a care package or some home cooked food so that’s one less thing new parents need to worry about!
